Job Description:
Join Buy Sports Media as a Government Relations Intern and gain hands-on experience in shaping policy agendas and advocating for event centers at federal, state, and local levels. This remote internship offers an excellent opportunity to develop critical skills in government relations and policy analysis.
Responsibilities:
- Policy Analysis: Conduct detailed analyses and prepare complex reports to support government relations and advocacy efforts.
- Advocacy Support: Assist in advancing the center’s government relations agenda through strategic advocacy at various government levels.
- Policy Development: Develop clear and informed policy positions on issues relevant to event centers’ missions.
- Legislative Support: Prepare memos, draft regulations and legislation, and develop advocacy materials to support legislative goals.
- Communication: Prepare and deliver public testimony and effectively communicate with governmental and legislative authorities.
- Documentation: Prepare follow-up materials and respond to requests for data or analysis from governmental entities.
- Additional Duties: Undertake other related tasks and projects as necessary to support government relations initiatives.
Requirements:
- Educational Background: Current undergraduate majoring in government relations or a related field, with a strong interest in policy development and advocacy.
- Analytical Skills: Experience analyzing complex intergovernmental issues and the ability to develop informed recommendations.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to think critically and strategically to support policy and advocacy efforts effectively.
- Decision Making: Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions after evaluating various alternatives.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex issues clearly and effectively.
- Organizational Skills: Excellent time management, planning, and organizational abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
- Independence and Teamwork: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also collaborating effectively within a team.
- Technological Proficiency: Proficiency in Google Docs (Word, Excel) and willingness to learn Slack for communication and collaboration.
- Virtual Communication: Familiarity with Zoom for virtual meetings and calls.
