As a UI/UX Designer Intern, you’ll help craft the player experience across educational games, sports simulations, and interactive platforms including our Money Smarts, EVOC, and Flight & CDL Driving Simulators.
This is more than designing menus — it’s about understanding human behavior, user flow, and building intuitive systems that connect our audiences to powerful game mechanics, esports competitions, and learning tools. What You’ll Do:
Collaborate with designers, artists, and developers to design intuitive and engaging UI layouts
Translate gameplay and training requirements into clear, accessible interfaces
Design wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes using tools like Figma or Adobe XD
Work with engineers to ensure UI is implemented accurately in Unity or Unreal
Analyze feedback and user data to iterate and refine interfaces for usability and flow
Integrate AI tools to speed up design prototyping and A/B testing
You’ll Learn To:
Apply design systems and UI style guides consistently across game interfaces
Build accessibility into design, including for educational and simulation users
Understand player psychology and how it shapes decision-making and interaction
Streamline UI for simulator hardware and mobile deployment
Collaborate in agile development environments
Use AI tools to assist in layout planning, UX behavior prediction, and real-time UI adaptation
Requirements:
Strong interest in interface design, wireframing, or interactive user experience
Familiarity with UI/UX tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, InVision)
Desire to work with game engines such as Unity or Unreal
Ability to think critically about layout, hierarchy, and player behavior
Studying Graphic Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Game Design, or a related field
Available to attend virtual meetings:
Mondays @ 9:00 AM MST
Wednesdays @ 10:00 AM MST
Fridays @ 8:00 AM MST
(Thursdays @ 9:00 AM MST for SkillBridge participants)
Bonus Skills (Not Required, But Valued):
Experience designing for games, mobile apps, or learning systems
Familiarity with motion graphics, transitions, or animation in UI
Interest in gamified dashboards or performance tracking
Exposure to esports or competitive gaming environments
