Sports Media, Inc., we design games that teach, inspire, and entertain. As a Gameplay Programmer Intern, you’ll build the engine behind our simulation-based, esports, and educational games — from Money Smarts to CDL and EVOC simulations, construction games, and sports-themed titles.
This is more than just coding. You’ll translate design documents into real-time game features, working closely with artists, writers, and instructional designers to bring game mechanics to life — while learning how to build AI-enhanced, scalable systems for commercial and instructional platforms.

What You’ll Do:
Implement core gameplay features such as controls, physics, input systems, animations, AI behaviors, scoring, and player feedback
Collaborate with game designers and technical artists to prototype, refine, and optimize interactive features
Write and debug C#, C++, or Python scripts for functionality across simulation, esports, and story-driven games
Support modular, reusable systems that support different training models (e.g., financial literacy, flight, or construction training)
Integrate AI/LLM tools into gameplay logic for intelligent feedback and adaptation
You’ll Learn To:
Use Unity, Unreal Engine, or Godot to bring virtual experiences to life
Build scalable architecture for multi-genre game projects — from mobile to simulator
Apply physics engines, collision detection, and game math to solve real problems
Integrate artificial intelligence to enhance character behaviors, player feedback, and content generation
Balance gameplay flow with educational accuracy, pacing, and player progression
Requirements:
Experience in or exposure to at least one programming language (C#, C++, Python, or JavaScript preferred)
Strong interest in games and how they’re built from the inside out
Comfort working in a collaborative, remote team environment
Currently studying Computer Science, Game Development, Software Engineering, or related field
Available to attend virtual meetings:
Mondays @ 9:00 AM MST
Wednesdays @ 10:00 AM MST
Fridays @ 8:00 AM MST
(Thursdays @ 9:00 AM MST for SkillBridge participants)
Bonus Skills (Not Required, But Valued):
Familiarity with Unity or Unreal
Experience with simulation or physics-based games
Interest in esports development, sports AI, or educational gamification
Ability to work with GitHub or other version control systems
